annie's family shower

so, last saturday, annie's mom and mother-in-law to be threw her a girly family shower. it was so cute! it went along with her and travis' wedding theme perfectly...classy, and all black and white.  when we first got there, i just walked around taking pictures of the decor.  the ladies (and annie's AWESOME grandma to be!) did a great job!

look at that cute lil bride!!!

yummmmmmm food set up

awesome cake!!!!

after we got there and got settled, i took pictures of all the guests that had arrived (so far).  our little bride to be was stuck in traffic, so we got some wine and hung out for a bit.  getting to mix up the families was fun!

and then, YAY! our bride is here!

we played a couple of games, the first one about giving the bride and groom advice for a long and happy marriage. i told her "do things together, but also keep your independence. its important to have a life beyond your husband.  and be patient. living with a boy is HARD!!!"  she got some other fun ones, like her mom telling her to buy two sets of sheets, or someone (not sure who) saying to use portion control on the sexual favors.  ;)

after that game, we played a getting to know the couple game. there were 10 questions, and guess who won with a 9 out of 10?  THIS GIRL!  i know, i can't believe i missed one either. but it was a doozy! carolyn (family friend) came 2nd runner up with 6 correct.  then it was time for presents!

annie and her two moms!

duh.

annie's mom made her the B for mrs baker, and then travis wrote the name underneath.  ok ladies, collective "awwwwww."

my gift hadn't arrived yet (dang you ETSY!) and so i printed a picture for her. its a Mrs. Baker hanger for her dress!

all in all, i think annie had a fun day, got a lot of good presents (including a kitchen aid and a TV!!!) and so that's what matters.  it was her last shower, so everyone feel free to be liberal with the wedding gifts! haha.

love you stais!

birthday continues....(warning, this is a long one)

so when we last left off, i was waking up and going to work after a night on the town with pearland crossfit.  needless to say, i was not feeling my best, but a special birthday free starbucks made my day a little better.  :)  i went to work, wrote the last blog, and then headed to azur salon for my haircut and color by ashley. this was my parent's birthday present to me, and i was super excited. after yet ANOTHER glass of wine at the salon, i was all fixed up and ready to go!

ashley (katie's reccomendation) did a great job on my hair, and around 5PM i was headed home for the next part of my birthday celebrations!

after i got some medicine and soup for my poor lil sick hubby, i went home, washed up, and got ready for my parents to arrive.  they came all the way to pearland to take us to dinner and to spend the night with their baby girl!  they got there, and we packed it in my dad's awesome truck and went down to killen's steakhouse. if you have not been, this place is AMAZING.  here are some food pics for those interested.....

left, mac and cheese, center creamed corn, right au gratin potatoes.  the waiter said, let me know if you need anything else yellow! haha

left, carrot cake, right creme brule bread pudding

once we had some wine and ate entirely too much, we got back in dad's big ol truck and headed for the house.  we all pretty much passed out from a food coma, but OH-EM-GEE it was worth it.

the next day, i woke up, ran some errands, and then went to annie's family wedding shower. (post coming soon).  after i got home from that, jenn, rachael, cacey, kyle, and brandon came and picked me up for the next part of my birthday outing...TOP GOLF!!! like the best friend and husband that they are, gloria and oliver had already been up there for HOURS waiting on a reservation for us. this place is seriously like a club, bar, and driving range rolled into one. it was SO MUCH FUN.  here's some of our car ride and arrival...

the peeps in attendance were: hope and chris, annie and travis, becks and james, cacey, gloria and david,  rachael and kyle, jenn and brandon, oliver and myself......am i forgetting anyone??? it was SO. MUCH. FUN.  we waited for awhile at the bar, ended up having a private lounge area, and then played us some golf.  mixed into that was some drinking games, fighting with the people at the lane next to us, flirting with top golf employees to get free stuff, payment of $10 for cacey to eat a nasty nacho by gloria, and many more crazy things that i just can't seem to remember for some reason.  hmm not sure why.

after we were done with our golfin, we went to some bar downtown where david had friends meeting up.  we had been at top golf for quite awhile at this point, so we were ready for a change of venue.  some of the group went home, and the pearland/friendswood crew headed downtown. i have no clue what the bar was named. all i know is, once we got there, i got behind the bar and bartended the rest of the night.

i think everyone else had fun there too.  oliver said he played darts, gloria said she had a sing-off from cacey and jenn...but literally, i was behind that bar the entire night.  love it.

(***thank you to my good friend jennifer hayford for being the photographer on the saturday night festivities!***)

so that concludes my bday!  up next.....annie's shower and some special exciting news!!  (for those of you who don't know me in real life, or who don't follow me on facebook, or have been living under a rock for the past month. and no, i am not pregnant.)  here's a hint.....i may or may not have opened a business, and my favorite photographer and i may or may not have had our first styled shoot this weekend.....eeee!!!

birthday night with pearland crossfit= TROUBLE

and the birthday week continues.

where did we last leave off? oh right, my mom had brought me a healthy lunch, and i continued the day at work. i am super busy right now because we have intern interviews next week and i have 40 students coming in on thursday and friday.  so i left right at 5 and barely made it home in time to change for crossfit.

we went up there, me to work out and oliver in his regular clothes because he's sick (bummer.) but he still wanted to come for margaritas after the WOD (workout of the day, for you non-crossfitters).

so we did our WOD, then sarah made our whole group do 29 birthday burpees.  if you don't know what a burpee is, you suck.  and so do they.

after the WOD, the new owner brought a cooler of beers, so we all grabbed one and hung out for a bit to catch our breath.  then we headed to Emma's for some dinner and margaritas.  thats when things went downhill.

we first sat outside, because we were all nasty and sweaty, and didn't want to offend the patrons inside, and had a corner table.  this was my first drink.

yum, right? so then, we had some chips and salsa, and drank our margaritas, and chilled out. it wasn't too wild. YET.  here's the rest of the drink menu if you're interested...

at some point, we decided we needed to move inside so we could eat (not everyone fit at the table) and then we got a group shot.  excuse how awesome we all look--we all just worked out hardcore.

THIS is when Minh (was it you Minh?) or someone decided that we needed to AMRAP our margaritas.  if you are not a crossfitter, again, you may not know what that is, but basically an AMRAP is as many reps as you can do in a certain period of time. you get 20 seconds work, 10 seconds rest, for like 8 rounds.  (someone correct me if that's wrong, but i think that's how it goes.) so we AMRAPed our margis and Jerry took this video.    let's just say, it might not have been our best idea ever.

after that, we basically got kicked out of the restaurant. we went to some bar, don't know the name, and proceeded to take shots.  it gets fuzzy for me at this point, but i do remember rocking out with the band, sitting at a table with a couple and the lady had no teeth, and saying super inappropriate things to my fellow crossfitters. best night ever.

next thing i remember is trying to sleep on the lawn.  thank god oliver nixed that idea. and then i woke up at like 5:30 AM still in my workout gear, grimy and disgusting. there were two trashcans next to my bed (this makes the 2nd time i have woken up with a trashcan next to me this week--i think i am seeing a pattern here), and so i got up and took a looooong shower, brushed my teeth finally, and went back to bed.

all in all, another successful birthday night. and it continues today!  more later.

on the first day of my birthday, my true love got for me....

so, tomorrow, january 25 is my 29th birthday. EEEEEEEEEEE!!  and although i don't really care about it this year, it seems everyone else does. which makes this girl feel SO SPECIAL!!!  my birthday started last saturday, with my surprise CANON REBEL!! and it has kept on going ever since!

on saturday, before annie's couples shower, i came home to this amazing surprise.  a new camera! i have been using an old nikon point and shoot that i bought in may 2010 (right before gloria and david's wedding!) and with the start of the new business  and such, i thought it would be awesome to get a new, nice camera. i had asked oliver about it, and he said no, its just too much money, so we started looking on craigslist. i was disappointed but totally understood.  then, i ran over to michael's to get some more crafts for the party, and here was my surprise!!  a new canon rebel T3i and an amazing lens to go along with it!  now i don't really know what all this means yet, but my good photographer friend katie lamb tells me that this is legit. especially for my first "grown up" camera.  YAY!

then, after the camera surprise, oliver told me since he got me the camera i would have to give up my original birthday present. i happily agreed. i mean, seriously! what could be better than the camera???  but then here came the kicker "i originally got us 4 FLOOR GEORGE STRAIT tickets, but now we can only keep 2."

Um.

BEST HUSBAND EVER!!!!

and it doesn't end there.  on tuesday night, something small came in the mail. he opened it, walked into the living room where i was hanging out with rachael watching dance moms, and gave me my 3rd birthday present. a gift card for some new shoes!!!! i have been doing crossfit off and on since oct 2011 and i haven't bought new shoes since...god only knows when. so holy cow! i was so excited!

then last night, a package came in the mail for me! and it was, admittedly something i ordered for myself, but sephora is awesome and threw in some birthday surprises too.  so boo-yah. another birthday present.

and then today, thursday, my mom came to visit me at work and bring me lunch. (jason's wrap. yum!) and she brought me some flowers and an awesome spaghetti squash from trader joes!  (we have a trader joes thing. you wouldn't understand.)

so, all in all, pretty amazing birthday so far you guys. and its not even my birthday yet!  i'll post more about this weekend's festivities  i'm sure they will be amazing!
